Social media strategy
A social media strategy is a written plan for goals, audience, platforms and content.
It starts with one or two goals, such as leads or brand awareness, then names the audience, the platforms where they are, the content pillars and how success will be measured.
Social media strategy in practice
Keep it short enough to use. A strategy that fits on a page gets read and followed, and it makes everyday choices simple: if a post does not serve the plan, it waits.
Review the strategy every quarter against your KPIs. If a platform brings effort but no results, reduce it. If a content type keeps working, make more of it. Write down the decision, so the reason is still clear when someone new joins the team.
Add a short list of what you will not do, such as platforms you skip or topics you avoid. Saying no is part of a strategy, and it keeps a small team from stretching across everything.
