Content pillar

A content pillar is a core topic your account posts about again and again.

Most accounts do well with three to five pillars, such as product tips, customer stories, behind the scenes and industry news. Pillars make planning faster and tell followers what to expect.

Content pillar in practice

Choose pillars where your knowledge and your audience’s interest overlap. Review them every quarter: keep those that earn engagement and replace those that do not.

To find yours, list the questions your customers ask most and the topics where you can speak with real experience. Group them, drop the ones that sit outside your offer, and name the three to five that remain. Then check the calendar to see that each pillar appears regularly.

Pillars also protect against burnout. When you are short of ideas, you do not start from nothing: you pick a pillar, look at your best past post in it, and ask what the audience would want to know next.
