Social media image resizer

A social media image resizer changes an image to the width and height you want for a post, by cropping it to fill the frame or fitting the whole image inside it.

Pick an image, choose a size, and decide whether to crop it to fill the frame or fit all of it with empty space around. The sizes are common post shapes, not rules: networks change their recommended dimensions, so check the network if you need an exact size.

The image is read and resized in your browser. It is not uploaded. The tool also tells you if the finished file is over the image file limit of any network SocialPatra posts to.

The image never leaves your device. It is not uploaded.

How to use the social image resizer

  1. Choose an image. Pick a PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF file from your device.
  2. Pick a size and a fit. Choose a preset or a custom size. Fill and crop covers the whole frame and trims the edges. Fit whole image keeps everything and fills the rest with a background.
  3. Download. Choose PNG or JPEG, check the preview and the file size, then download the file.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded?

No. The file is opened and resized in your browser and never sent to a server. Close the page and it is gone.

Should I choose PNG or JPEG?

PNG keeps sharp edges and transparency but makes larger files. JPEG makes smaller files for photos and has no transparency. If the file is over a network limit, try JPEG at a lower quality.

Why does the crop cut off part of my image?

Fill and crop scales the image until it covers the frame, then trims what sticks out, evenly on both sides. Choose Fit whole image to keep all of it.
