Social media image size guide
A social media image size guide lists the limits on image files for each network, so a post is not rejected for a file that is too large.
This table lists the file size limit and the image count limit SocialPatra applies to each network when it publishes.
It does not list pixel dimensions. Networks change recommended dimensions often, so check the network itself for those.
| Network | Largest image file | Most images in a post |
|---|---|---|
| 4 MB | 10 | |
| 8 MB | 20 | |
| 5 MB | 20 | |
| Twitter / X | 5 MB | 4 |
| Threads | 8 MB | 20 |
| Bluesky | 1 MB | 4 |
| Mastodon | 10 MB | 4 |
| 20 MB | 1 | |
| Tumblr | 10 MB | 30 |
| 32 MB | 5 | |
| Discord | 20 MB | 10 |
| Slack | 10 MB | 10 |
| Telegram | 10 MB | 10 |
How to use the image size guide
- Find your network. Look for the network in the first column.
- Check the file size. Keep each image under the size in the second column.
- Check the image count. Keep the number of images in a post at or under the count in the third column.
Frequently asked questions
Why are pixel dimensions missing?
SocialPatra does not enforce pixel dimensions when it publishes, so this guide lists only the limits it can state with certainty.
What happens if my image is larger than the limit?
The post can fail for that network. Reduce the file size and schedule it again.
Do the limits differ for video?
Yes. This table is about images only. Video limits are different and are not listed here.
