Schedule Medium posts

Scheduling Medium posts with SocialPatra means you write a story once, pick a date and time, and SocialPatra publishes it to your Medium profile or to a publication you contribute to at that moment.

Plan: Free and up

Medium connects with an integration token from your Medium account settings, not with your password. You can revoke the token on Medium at any time.

This page covers how to get the token, what to know before you rely on it, and what SocialPatra sends to Medium.

Connect Medium with an integration token

  1. Open your Medium security settings. On medium.com, open Settings and then the Security and apps tab.
  2. Create an integration token. In the Integration tokens section at the bottom, type a description such as SocialPatra and choose Get token. Copy the token.
  3. Paste it into SocialPatra. Add a Medium account in SocialPatra and paste the token into the Integration Token field. The token is checked when you connect, and a wrong one is rejected.
  4. Choose where to publish. If you belong to Medium publications where you can publish directly, SocialPatra lets you choose between your own profile and those publications.

Medium no longer offers the Integration tokens section to some newer accounts. If you do not see it, you need to ask Medium support for API access before you can connect. SocialPatra cannot get around that.

How to schedule a Medium story

  1. Open the composer and pick your Medium account. Write the story in the composer and choose the profile or publication it should go to.
  2. Add a title. Medium stories need a title, so the composer asks for one.
  3. Write the story. Type the story in markdown: headings, lists, links and code blocks.
  4. Pick the date and time. Choose when it should go live and save the post.

When the time arrives, the story is published on Medium as a public story. It is not saved as a draft.

Image One image of type JPG, PNG, GIF or WebP, up to 5 MB.

Send one article to Medium, Dev.to and Hashnode

Medium, Dev.to and Hashnode are all connected platforms in SocialPatra. Choose more than one of them for the same post and one title and one article go to each. Each site has its own limits, so keep the article within the strictest one. If the same text appears on your own site, mention that on Medium.
