Schedule Hashnode posts

To schedule Hashnode posts with SocialPatra, you write an article once, pick a date and time, and SocialPatra publishes it to your Hashnode blog at that moment.

Plan: Free and up

Hashnode articles are written in markdown. You connect with a personal access token from your Hashnode account, not your password, and you can revoke that token on Hashnode whenever you like.

This page shows how the connection works, which Hashnode details you can set from the composer, and how to send one article to several blogging sites.

Connect Hashnode with a personal access token

  1. Generate a token on Hashnode. On Hashnode open Account Settings, then the Developer tab, and under Personal Access Tokens click Generate New Token. Copy it right away, because Hashnode shows it only once.
  2. Paste it into SocialPatra. Add a Hashnode account in SocialPatra and paste the token into the Personal Access Token field.
  3. Pick a publication if you need one. The Publication ID field is optional. If you leave it blank, SocialPatra finds your default publication. To post to a specific blog, paste its ID from the dashboard address.
  4. SocialPatra checks the token. The token is tested against your Hashnode profile when you connect. A wrong token is rejected.

If a token ever leaks, revoke it on the same Developer page and generate a new one.

How to schedule a Hashnode article

  1. Open the composer and pick your Hashnode account. Write the article in the composer and choose the Hashnode account it should go to.
  2. Add a title. Hashnode articles need a title of up to 250 characters. Without one the article is not sent.
  3. Write in markdown. Type the body in markdown: headings, code blocks, lists and links.
  4. Set the Hashnode options. When Hashnode is selected, the composer shows a Hashnode Options panel. Fill in what you need, or skip it.
  5. Pick the date and time. Choose when it should go live and save the post.

When the time arrives, SocialPatra publishes the article to Hashnode as a live post. It is not saved as a draft.

Cross-post a blog article to Hashnode and Dev.to

Hashnode and Dev.to are both connected platforms in SocialPatra. Choose both as targets for the same post and one title and one article go to each. Each site has its own limits on length and images, so keep the article within the stricter one.

If the article first lived on your own site, put that address in the Canonical URL field so search engines know which copy is the original.

Removing a published article

Hashnode supports deletion through its API, so removing a published article from SocialPatra removes it from your Hashnode blog too.
