Social media audit

A social media audit is a review of your accounts to see what works and what to change.

It lists every account, checks that profiles are complete and consistent, and reviews recent posts against your goals. Look at which formats and topics earned engagement and which did not.

Social media audit in practice

End with a short action list: accounts to close, profiles to fix, content to repeat and content to drop. Repeat the audit once or twice a year.

Use a simple sheet with one row per account and columns for goal, last post date, audience size, best post and next step. Be honest about accounts that are not worth the effort. Fewer well-kept accounts usually work better than many neglected ones.

Include a check of the basics on each profile: name, handle, bio, link, profile image and contact details. Inconsistent or outdated details are the quickest wins, and they cost nothing to fix.
